“Him”… the “Almighty”… who is not held to the same standards of morality or responsibility that he puts onto others.
Most or all of these rulers apparently believed or pretended to believe in this almighty god, and that to be “godly” they must act like the god depicted in the Bible… jealous, petty, self-centered, vengeful…. IOW, their subjects must have faith in, glorify and obey them. Laws, morality and kindness were for little people… not for rulers or the powerful. If you did not obey or kneel before the king… off with your head. “God’s Word” or will or supremacy could not be questioned, and neither could a lowly ‘sinner’ or surf question the “godly” men or kings who led or demanded the slaughter and enslavement of millions.
The Bible is rife with such examples of war and conquest, justified by God. Laws and morality (or “changed hearts”) were for little people, to keep their kingdoms ‘in line’ after their tirades and conquests.
No, I do not find your argument persuasive, nor the words written in your “holy bible.”
