On my mother’s side, her grandmother, and my great grandmother, was from a family kicked out of the Blue Ridge Mountains to make way for the Shenandoah National Park. 1932. My great grandmother was a Dean. The family lived upon and around the area of Dean Mountain, near Swift Run. She married a Dunivan from that same area. They moved to Hanover County, Virginia outside of Richmond. Her daughter, Dora Dunivan married an Askew. My mother was her daughter. That is how fate put me into Richmond. There is still the Dean Family Cemetery located within the park. Relatives to this day are still interred there. Breedens, Dunivans (some spelled Dunnivan), Deans, etc. are near and distant relations. The Park Service does not maintain it. Family members do. Technically I could be buried there. Two notables from the Dean family are James Dean and John Dean of Watergate infamy. Thought you might find this of interest. Link:
