No. It is a matter of PERCEPTION of statistics...
Yes, at the current time, a driverless car is STATISTICALLY worse than a human operated vehicle. But you ASSUME that means that the PUBLIC is going to perceive the risks the same way that you do. That they will do careful analytical statistical analysis of the risks of a self-driving car and place the elevated risk OVER the advantages. Some will, some will not. But given that people die in cars every year by the tens of thousands, I do NOT think you can expect people to get hyper-sensitive to risk in that arena.
