Is one of the few places armchair tourists can see Mt. Everest. Problem is when they get there, Kanchenjunga dominates the view, and Everest is a little "nothing" far off to the left.
Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain, behind Everest and K2, and its bulk is overwhelming. Very impressive mouuntain, and a very dangerous, difficult climb too.
Same dilemma occurs with seeing Everest from Tibet, and specifically Tingri. Cho Oyu dominates the view. Everest is that insignificant looking point on the far left of this photo.
I imagine the railroad is fascinating. But I would expect break downs, and it might not be all that safe. Landslides in that region are common, and gigantic.
Used to be to reach Everest from Kathmandu, you had to trek. It was five days minimum. Now a "highway" shortens that to three days from Nanche Bazaar.
Bridge over the Dudh Kosi river that drains the Khumbu glacier and icefall.
These bridges are not inspected, and occasionally collapse.
