What systems that Iran has in inventory in significant numbers that COULD have made this attack effective?
Now, I agree that it was broadly a political gesture to make a statement that they were retaliating against the embassy strike...
But to say it was INTENTIONALLY ineffective implies that they had an alternative that WOULD HAVE BEEN effective.... And I'm not sure they actually have such an alternative weapons set.
From what I have read, they have slow drones that have the range easily, but as pointed out, are pretty easy to intercept, and they have ballistic missiles that can JUST BARELY range, but are somewhat harder to intercept. And they fired BOTH in quantity and achieved a handful of hits.
What technology do you think they chose NOT to launch in the interests of keeping the attack ineffective?
