Whomever said 1 was Point Break with cars was spot on (VIV?) Still a solid movie. I kind of feel like there would be easier ways to hijack trucks than what they did, but that's OK.
General impressions: enjoyable if kind of silly. The script writers didn't really waste a lot of time trying to make anything make sense--seems like they had a few key action scenes and then just slapped together some transitions to fill the time.
I feel like actual street racing scenes probably don't have quite as many gorgeous babes walking around in their underwear, although admittedly I've never been to any. I kind of wonder about the casting calls for those, though--"need 15 blonde extras for close-up ass shots"?
Highlight of the series so far was definitely the finale in 5, with them dragging the safe around. The end of 6 with the tank was a letdown by comparison.
Vin Diesel is a really, really, really bad actor. He has charisma and can pull off the loveable scamp/humorous scenes. But whenever he has to be serious or emote, he just spends the whole time looking like he smelled a fart.
The Rock was kind of disappointing so far. I usually like him, but he doesn't have a lot to work with here, and he mainly looks like a bad imitation of Tommy Lee Jones in the Fugitive.
Still have 7 and 8 in the queue. IIRC one of them involves a submarine, so I'm anxious to see what goofiness leads to that point.
