Classical enthusiasts might argue about what often appear to be (to an average fan) small differences in performances, but this is a case where the differences are actually fairly large and easy to hear.
Also, it is not true that historically-accurate performances of 18th century music are extra-expensive - especially for 18th century music, as there are plenty of them. The budget label Naxos even puts them out.
Once you get on into the 19th century, there are less of these (probably because the differences are not as great).
