By the way I actually like Liszt Totentanz

It's an interesting gothic work. Liszt is essentially the Nick Cave of concert music in terms of focusing on the macabre.
However when comparing this symphonic poem with something like Richard Strauss Death and Transfiguration (which is based on non-strict sonata form by the way) it really isn't as good because it lacks the continuous narrative flow that Death and Transfiguration has and Totentanz does sound like a medley.
