Yeah there wasn't anything deeper going on with my enjoyment of those 2 albums

My favorite subgenre as a teen was UK psych pop (which is still one of my favorite subgenres). It's really the main type of music that struck a chord when I started listening to classic rock other than weirdos like Beefheart and Zappa. The Residents' debut would probably make my list of teenage favorites but that album and The Red Krayola album had as much to do with changing my perception of music than my enjoyment of them. The latter actually took me some time to fully appreciate but it also introduced me to what because one of my favorite bands.
Most lists I've seen on FB are primarily made up of contemporary 90's stuff. I turned 13 at the end of 95 when the 90's stuff that had the biggest impact on me had already been released. I was tempted to put Nirvana on my list but associate them more with elementary school even though I still loved and listened to them as a teen. The impact had already been made when I was younger, in other words.
