Sure, but if we're talking about guys who's careers only got going in the 90s and still remain active who else do prog fans have to turn to? Neal Morse? Mike Portnoy?
He did produce some good Opeth albums before they turned to crap though, so it's not all bad.
If Steven Wilson was soely in charge of a band in the 70s I could see what you mean for sure, however I could see him fitting in pretty snugly as the guitarist in a more collaborative group where it wasn't just him calling the shots 100% of the time.
Speaking of Wilson collaborations have you or anyone heard his other band No-Man? Apparently they're actually pretty popular in the UK, but I've never listened to them before. They've been around longer than Porcupine Tree too.
