The Indians in the show were real Indians (including, at various points, famous chiefs and warriors in between periods of hostility) so I'm sure the singing and dancing was authentic. In fact Bill didn't like to keep the same Indians in continuous employment because he thought being away from their communities too long would turn the into entertainers and their performances would be less authentic, or something like that.
