Balls is a solid 11/15 album
It's a much better sounding album to Sax and violins as the electronics sounds more aggressive (kinda rocks) and sparks also mixed the orchestral sounds mixed with the techno beat. It's actually a transitional anthem to Lil Beethoven, imagine the songs without the techno beat leaving behind the electronic orchestral sounds filling the instrumentation. The backbeat/rhythm is supplied by the vocals and the melodies by the orchestral instruments in the next Lil Beethoven album.
Sax and violins in contrast is a really lame and wussy sounding album even by Sparks standard.
However the songwriting is much weaker in Balls with overrepetitive songs
However there are clear highlights in Balls and surprisingly no mention of Calm Before the storm
It's the best song of the album, great vocal melodies, nice usagenof brass instrument anda great polyphonic bridge section that is a superb example of vocal harmony.
There is even a cool remix as a bonus tracks Called Calm Before the opera that is based on the bridge section that is just as good as the song
Advice before listening to Lil Beethoven
Play the track Senseless Violins first Immediately prior to listening to Lil Beethoven. It's remarkably prescient
