He died right before the much-reviled book sequel Scarlett came out, although I've heard that the 1994 TV movie (Timothy Dalton as Rhett) wasn't half bad. And it has a Sean Bean death scene in it!!
Uh, what would have been in a Marxist-directed GWTW? Would I even *want* to see the Prissy b###h-slap scene in that film? Keep in mind that I only really think GWTW is seriously a "romanticization" of the Old South in terms of visuals and costuming and such--I've always felt that both the book and movie made the South look foolhardy for fighting the war.
