You actually paid attention to the drumming in Radiohead albums?

It's just there to fill in the backbeat as people focus on more interesting instrument and vocals. I don't think Philip Selway ever stand out for me in a positive or negative way. Sure there's electronic drumming in singer-songwriter type material but really the sound of a drum is really inconsequential if it doesn't stand out that much. If anything it's a unique combination of introspective singer-songwriter with trip hop beats which kinda goes with the theme of Radiohead of alienation of modern society but then again I don't think anyone should read too deeply in Radiohead drumming
In Rainbows is the most overrated Radiohead album in my opinion. The first half is brilliant but the second half of the album too much laziness in the second half of the album of fillers, underwritten song and groove based music.
It could have been a brilliant album if they included half of In Rainbows with the best songs from the bonus CD that came along with the people who purchase a physical copy of the album.
