Case in point - it was number 85 on the first "Best Albums of the 90s" list that Pitchfork did. When they updated the list, it was number 4. Rolling Stone gave it 3 stars on release - now it's 4.5 in their review book. Spin said it was the 88th best album of the 90s, and then eventually said it was the 43rd best album of the past 30 years.
I'll concede that it was more popular than the other E6 stuff, but it still grew enormously in popularity from its release onward.
