anyone who gets exposed to NMH nowadays is going to end up doing so through this prism of Internet fanboy worship. I suppose it's possible that someone could stumble upon the album sleeve in a shop and buy it for that reason or something like that, but in reality, the only way for the most part that people get into it is because they're nerds reading a lot about music they've never heard online. so it definitely sets up these obscenely high expectations that the record really doesn't deserve. but it's a shame in some respects because it is a unique, well-done record (in my eyes) that deserves to be heard, without all the ridiculous fanfare.
