And I'm not sure that's even a bad thing. Its like a Quality Control mechanism for one's aesthetic compass.
I did like Aeroplane when it came out. I thought it was a little crazy, hummably melodic, but also not like anything else I was hearing at the time. But I'll also admit that the mental image of hipster 20-somethings 10+ years later raving about the album changing their lives is something that physically sickens me. I knew something was seriously amiss when Oleg started going on about it being the No. 2 album of all time (after The Final Cut, lol), but in retrospect, that was practically nothing compared to what was to come.
