Yeah, being critical of myself has a lot to do it for me too. I think that's common- you always want to improve in every department. Improving as a singer and musician comes with practice and though the same can be said for songwriting, so much of the success of songwriting comes from the right inspiration at the right time and an almost mystical sense of channeling the song from somewhere. Also I hate to say it because I love my gf but having less solitude is definitely a contributing factor. I can only really write when I have silence and solitude these days, which is why I've generally been the most productive when I've lived alone.
I'd totally be down to collaborate with you man. I'm not sure how it'd work exactly (how exactly did you do it w/ the other babbler? I'd be curious to hear what you guys came up with) but if we could make it work I think it could be really cool. If it doesn't work, no big deal but it's worth a shot. Maybe to start out, I'll email you some of my songs. Know you've heard those Smoking Ghosts EPs but those were collaborative and are a couple years old so they're not 100% representative of the type of stuff I'd want to potentially do with you. Don't have anything recorded but will try to throw together some voice & guitar demos on Garage Band and send them to you sometime soon.
