Everything "big" from this decade happened a year later

So it's kind of a lost chapter (Todd In The Shadows talks about this a lot), definitely a case of a new decade struggling to find its identity. And yet I think at this point I prefer this stuff* over the alernative hegemony and generally-downbeat tone of the pop and rap that followed. Especially when you throw in stuff like Fugazi's Repeater, Bad Religion's Against The Grain, Alice Donut's Mule, that Revolting Cocks album and Nick Cave's The Good Son, you've got a lot of interesting-ish stuff that doesn't necessarily fit into a predetermined aesthetic.
Of course realistically, the year was dominated by "U Can't Touch This", "Ice Ice Baby", and "Girl You Know It's True", so maybe it's for the best things worked out the way they did.
*for that matter, I find myself appreciating stuff from 89, 88, and 87 more these days. You can hear the seeds for the transition that eventually occurred between the decades in a lot of this stuff.
