My big 1999 highlights: The Phantom Menace (to no end of regrets), The Matrix, The Blair Witch Project, American Pie, that South Park movie, Eyes Wide Shut, Wild Wild West, Lit's "My Own Worst Enemy", Filter's "Take A Picture", the third albums by Rage Against The Machine and Foo Fighters, Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers (reviving their careers from basically zero to a thousand), "Bawitdaba dabangadang diggyiggyiggy said the boogie said up jump the boogie", Eminem, and yeah, okay, Fight Club. One random thing that sticks out in my memory for some reason is that all the ska bands who had hit it big 2 years previous were all floundering as they attempted to follow up that fluke success into an unforgiving world of nu-metal dominance. Even No Doubt struggled to regain their momentum before making themselves over as a full-on all-Stefani dance pop act.
I think between you, me and Klosterman we've beaten the "Axl is bizarro Kurdt" thing into the ground, so I'll leave that be.
Hey, I'm watching Blue Ruin now. When and why did you watch this? When you gonna watch Green Room?
