at the least I'd rather somebody say the Specials or The Beat or something. Or even the Slackers or Hepcat... you know, bands that don't simply take the off-beat guitar rhythm and apply it to utterly generic punk turd format.
I mean, keerist, I even like the Aquabats (and Catch 22 and Operation Ivy) and such. I have a fondness for bands that at least show a bit of creativity with their interpretation of the genre. But the Bosstones? Reel Big Fish? ugh. this is something my teenage self would get a lot more furious about.
but real actual ska? early Toots, the Skatalites... HOW EASILY WE FORGET. (yes I know nobody cares about this... and I actually think that mid-90s No Doubt record isn't so bad)
