TFC depends on who you're asking. It got a glowing 5 star review from Kurt Loder in Rolling Stone back in 1983, for whatever that's worth (I think Loder has been a little dumped on over the years for his age.) It has its defenders today. And The Wall, which it follows, has quite a few detractors!
I also remember Takk... getting good reviews at the time even though nobody seems to talk about any SR albums besides Agaetis Byrjun and Toilet Seat anymore.
Prindle disagrees with you 100% on the MC5 comparisons, although I don't hate KOTJ as much as he does (his review was hilarious though--"recorded live in a marijuana store")
