Earth Vs. The Pipettes is a good pick for this. The whole band fell apart and they should have just split up right then and left themselves as a one-album-wonder. But no, they glossed everything up in a way that didn't suit them and had Gwenno's mediocre sister stink up the place (if they were going to change the band that drastically they probably should have just dumped the "girl group" concept entirely and made Gwenno the solo lead singer). Some of the songs are well written though, if they hadn't changed style so drastically it could have been an alright follow-up.
I liked Divers alright. I dunno which one I'd consider better but Divers is certainly an easier listen.
Traffic And Weather is a good pick. Welcome Interstate Managers is some of the 00s best power-pop but then Traffic And Weather showed them completely run out of steam.
