Re: MBDTF, it's basically the hip hop equivalent of one of those bombastic art rock epics with these long, multi-part songs with a whole load of things going on.
It's a 'rap' album where instead of tracks mainly being about rapping over beats, the rapping is treated as just one part of these larger arrangements, so you'll get whole sections without it. That gives the flow of the tracks a certain dynamicism that you don't see so much in that genre.
In some ways he did an even better job of that on some Yeezus tracks, like how Handle My Liquor has this weird structure where you have a load of singing and instrumental sections and one rap verse sandwiched right in the middle.
