The part that doesn't hold is alot of the vehicle levels. There are good ones, like the Death Star in the first game and grappling the walkers in Empire, but Jedi has no good vehicle levels and the bad ones in Empire are truly abominable.
And I think that Empire's insane difficulty is it's big appeal. On medium difficulty it's probably the hardest game I've beaten. I haven't beaten it on hard ("Jedi" actually) because of the asteroid field level. The entire way the combat in that level is conceived is ridiculous. That side scrolling "flying toward the walker level" is also awful but at least 1) I was able to beat it and 2) the stuff that's wrong with it is kind of hilarious (is there any other level of any other game where your character takes up so much of the screen?).
As for being too repetitive, pretty much every beat 'em up ever made is more repetitive that these games. You have to at least give Jedi credit for letting you play with so many different characters. Counting the different versions of Leia there are seven characters, although I guess I'll only give them credit for six since as far as I have ever been able to tell "Leia Rebel" from the shield generator level is just Han without a special attack.
When they released them on virtual consul, did they give the Sarlacc a beak and change the Ewok celebration music at the end?
