Phil solo: I always crack up when any Genesis fan from this board tries to be nice to solo Phil to the point of listening all the way through one of his albums (I only liked a couple of his solo hits), and then they COMPLETELY HATE IT every single time. EVERY SINGLE TIME. This goes all the way back to when George tried to review some of his stuff!!! I swear, it's never happened any other way! I *think* I listened to Face Value all the way through once and couldn't remember a note of it except for "In The Air Tonight" and "Tomorrow Never Knows" once it was over, so I won't be trying full-album solo Phil ever, and I think I already learned my lesson with that sort of thing when I bit the bullet and decided to listen to Asia because I'd loved "Heat Of The Moment" and "The Heat Goes On" for all those years, and then ended up hating all but maybe HOTM and "One Step Closer."
Prince: LOL at your description of what the EP is!
Mike + The Mechanics: I only know "The Living Years." It sounded....well, pretty much like the "Genesis meets slick late 80s adult contemporary project" I was expecting it to be.
Emerson: The 90s ELP albums suck ass. Black Moon sounds like a godawful synth-heavy out-of-touch no-target-audience dinosaur rock album from an prog band stuck in a mid-80s mentality (but in 1992, making them about six years behind the times, tops) and the only thing I'll ever remember about In The Hot Seat is the song about the missing kid (it's overwrought and embarrassing). None of it is actual prog anyway, IIRC, just dinosaur arena stuff. Didn't know Kevin Gilbert produced that album though!!
Jeebus, I keep forgetting to keep up with Animal Collective. I didn't listen to all that stuff for nothing!
