Around 2010-11, I burned out on record collecting completely and sold most off my collection. I did pretty well off of it, too. Made enough money to take the summer of 2012 off and travel.
Today, I can barely even look at a record bin, especially a used record bin. If I tried to browse it, I wouldn't last a minute. I am 100% over it, though I still buy and collect GBV/Robert Pollard stuff (and my collection of that is now complete, I don't have to conduct anymore searches). I wrote a little final kiss-off to thrift-shopping in the form of a "review" of Herb Alpert's "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" on my website ( http://www.theconstantbleeder.com/1-thrift-stores-and-other-delights/)
Back in my record-collector/Music Babble posting years, I kinda was a loser, in the recent college crad, "doesn't know what he wants to do yet" sense. Never had a blue collar job (unless bartending counts), but I did drift a lot between restaurant/bar work and office monkey work. No real regrets about it today, because things are good now, but that was definitely a weird period. It feels like I was a whole other person.
Anyway, HI, MUSIC BABBLE.
I look at this board every now and then (once a month or two, maybe), mostly because I think it's interesting that it's still here. Don't read it much (too much clicking in this format!) so I never feel the urge to post. When I saw my "name" here though, I thought I'd say hi.
