Elvis Costello - The Delivery Man - Nope I don't hear late career renaissance here. The opening track "Button My Lips" is atrocious as well - <7/15
Husker Du - Zen Arcade - ughr, perhaps this has more interesting and diverse instrumentation you would expect from a punk rock album but it's still a punk rock album with it's overly sloppy sounding music and tuneless vocals - <7/15
Doves - Lost Soul - Similar complaints I've given to Liberty Belles - Some strong instrumentation mixed with mediocre songwriting with the exception of some the singles (although even then, they are overlong) - 9/15
Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas - A monotonous album saved by good songwriting - 11/15
Michael Tippett - The Midsummer's Marriage - More evidence on my belief that 20th century classical music is nothing but a disaster.
err not a good recent spinning
