and I'll also add as a songwriter, it can be difficult to maintain a high quality over a long period of time, even for someone with talent. Interviews with many notable songwriters have been conducted regarding their process and though each approach is unique, basically everyone admits to a certain indefinable inspiration, almost as if you are channeling a song that is already fully formed. This is obviously impossible to turn on and off at will and often becomes more difficult to tap into as time passes, partly because you're constantly in competition with yourself. You always want to improve, you don't want to repeat yourself and I'm sure fame and acclaim add extra pressure.
