I think Roddy Frame may have been *16* when he wrote most of the songs. He said something to that effect. Dump "Down The Dip" or "Back On Board" and replace it with "Haywire" and HLHR would be even better....
...I still think the most stunning age-related achievement in rock is Mike Oldfield doing Tubular Bells at age *20*, which meant he had most of it completed by the time he was 18. I know that back then rock musicians, particularly the British ones, got an earlier start than they probably do now but few teenagers have written (good) 48 minute "opuses" like that (and its original title was, in fact, Opus 1.)
