I think what makes Nirvana somewhat likeable is the singer songwriter aspect

I'm really lukewarm towards the grunge aesthetic in general and don't really find the grunge genre particularly exciting to listen to. I'm not particularly blown away by the sound of Nirvana
However Nirvana has the spirit of the singer-songwriter in their music. The heart on the sleeve emotional vocalist in Kurt Cobain combined with his pop instinct that makes me like Nirvana despite it's genre that I'm not entirely keen with.
The album MTV Unplugged is the most overtly singer-songwriter album of his career and hence Nirvana best album in my opinion
