I know some people used the standard of improvisation and the ability to create different live performance every gig as a marker of a good live band
However once you created an optimal performance, is there any point of playing the piece differently from the very best performance of that song? Shouldn't every subsequently performance should aim to be identical in every single way to the very best performance as every deviation would make the song less good and less optimal from the songs peak potential?
It's disappointing when songs have live performances that are vastly superior to the album version. Just makes me think why the band didn't record the album exactly like that note by note
