"Under My Thumb" and "Out Of Time" - well, I'll always remember the vibraphone on the former but I had to look up the latter....which was one of my favorites! I keep forgetting about those early Stones albums and my listening experiences with them. What did you think of the one with "Satisfaction" on it? Isn't that actually supposed to be one of their weaker ones?
Didn't Brian Jones always look sort of like a little kid? And he was a way bigger scumbag than Mick 'n' Keef.
Between The Buttons is pretty damn weird. Hearing stuff like "Yesterday's Papers" and "Cool Calm And Collected," and I listened to the version that DOESN'T have "Let's Spend The Night Together."
Damn I really liked TSMR. But, it puts you in league with Keith Richards if you hated it. The spacey parts aren't terribly good but the prettier songs are glorious IMO.
I always got the impression that it was a classic critics' position to slag the 1973-74 albums off really badly.
Nice observation on how Some Girls is a punk album in its own way, which is a better argument than people trying to call Pink Floyd's Animals a punk album!!
Voodoo Lounge and Bridges To Babylon are prime "CD era" album length problem-discs.
When you mentioned Bowie at the end there I thought of how much I like Heathen even though its "slick" sound was, yes, totally incongruous with other "slick" sounds from 2002.
