When I grew up listening to them in high school, it didn't matter that their music was so unoriginal in style, because all I cared about was that it was exciting rock'n'roll. But in retrospect, the fact that, using George's scale, they rack up a 0/5 in Originality really hurts them. There are lots of good to great rock'n'roll bands, and in the grand scheme of rock history they weren't that special. I guess I long ago reached the point where I've heard so many bands and so much music that I need more than just good songs performed well - I need some sort of twist to it.
I still can enjoy them - they're nowhere near as generic as stuff like the White Stripes - I just don't rank'em nearly as high as I once did, simply because I've been exposed to so much more music over the years.
