-Paula Abdul, yep, one of the few MTV stars I really remember--because of the video with the cartoon cat in it!!! I thought she was hot as hell, I didn't remember anyone calling her stupid yet either.
-Milli Vanilli - I didn't know who they were until after the lip sync thing had happened, but I did know some of my grade school buddies actually did have the cassette tapes!
-I didn't know if Michael Jackson was a man or a woman or what back then. Ditto for k.d. lang!
-I didn't know who George Michael even was AT ALL until the c***sucking scandal broke. I'd seriously never heard of him.
-Rap, uhhh....I'd heard of the Fat Boys at least. But I probably didn't know about it at all until yeah, MC Hammer, I mean the genre. And Vanilla Ice. Totally inescapable in 1990.
-My same older 11 year old brother had a bunch of New Kids On The Block stuff. He loved them. Probably doesn't want to remember that today now that all he listens to is country.
-Now, I'm going to disagree about that U2 crack. I can remember hearing about that Bono guy even when I was 7. R. E. M. and The Cure, no I wouldn't have known who they were when I was 7. But U2? They made the cover of Time magazine bro.
-The original Batman movie was like the fourth biggest grossing movie ever after E. T. and Star Wars when it came out, you may remember.
-Ninja Turtles everywhere.
-Girls and younger women all had stupid poofy hair/Lisa Frank shit out here and wore purple cotton gym pants (called "joggers" in Kansas)
-When men had long hair out here it was ALWAYS a mullet. I can remember that from when I was 7.
-The Bay Area earthquake that interrupted the World Series that year, I can remember the baseball game CUTTING TO THE "TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES" SCREEN. I can remember that EXACT MOMENT. It's on Youtube but I'll screw posting it.
-I don't think my mom wanted me to know who Madonna was. I think I asked her, when I was 7, and she went "no!!!" My mom listened to "Roll With It" on cassette tape by Steve Winwood ALL THE TIME and almost nothing else.
