I prefer dry heat to the cold as well. (I have a fan-forced heater that feels really good even in summertime.) I keep the thermostat at 80 year-round and it's usually comfortable; I looked up SF's climate some time ago for a forgotten reason and was surprised that it seemed that you needed a jacket in the middle of the damn summertime!
Joe H. has it pretty bad. Whenever I look at old photos and see them all in such heavy clothing I wonder how the hell they could have stood it, and there are photos of plantation owners etc. even in the Deep South/Florida dressed like that. Heroic men: I recently looked up London's weather (reading Oliver Twist; brought to mind that they wore three layers even in summertime) and it's about the same as San Fran's.
