Goats' Head Soup, on the other hand, is justifiably regarded as jumping the shark. Three or four good songs and a lot of mediocrity. Mick starts his unfortunate descent into tuneless shouting instead of actual singing, and there are no great Keith riffs whatsoever. However, it is vastly superior to the two that followed it (It's Only Rock'n'Roll, Black & Blue), which are Stones-by-paint-by-numbers and verging on the unlistenable. In other words, it's not a bad album by any means, but after four stone-cold classics, it was a major disappointment. And the Stones never quite recovered, aside from Some Girls.
