I've already seen Zabriskie Point. I thought it was sort of interesting in its anti-American criticism, I thought it was about how things are setup in this country so as to make attempts at "change" seem kind of meaningless (the final scene is the Pink Floyd scene, with stuff being blown up before the heroine realizes it was all in her head and walks off crying), but someone here blasted me to pieces (Ben Greenstein, I think) for saying that and told me never to watch any Antonioni films ever again. Guess I got it wrong?
What were that guy's reasons for hating Easy Rider? I disliked it the first time I saw it but later rewatched it and liked it just fine, I think I'd just hated the silly stoned scenes in the graveyard near the end. I could give or take the ending as being appropriately blunt.
Were his reasons for disliking The Graduate the same reasons as for Ebert downgrading it to three stars?
