There were only a handful of songs I was disappointed with when I finished them, most of it I was more or less satisfied with. So it's tricky to sort though it all in my head. The only real metric I can use to divide the songs right now is the degree of effort that went into each song. Some are elaborate productions I started long before this month started and I used this month as an excuse to finally finish them. While others are bare-bones off the cuff kinda tunes. But most fall somewhere in between. I'm kinda hoping people will just listen to it and tell me what songs they think were the best ones, and I can find a consensus that way. haha. So I'm not going to be making any official compilation version or anything at the moment. Right now I just need a break from it all. I might touch some of the songs up and put out a version 2.0 in the future, and if there are any alternate tracklists I'll figure that out then. But I need to give it some time to sink in.
I can still recommend some tracks though. If I were making a compilation version right now maybe it might look something like this. but I might change my mind once I go back and relisten to everything.
#2 "Asedio I" - acoustic power-pop. A pretty characteristically "me" sort of song. I kind of felt that right away as I was writing so I thought it was fitting to make it the title track.
#8 "Heart's Desire" - A kind of pastoral folk-pop sort of tune. really short and to the point
#10 "The Struggle" - A pretty elaborate synth-pop song I had been working on over the summer and I was finally able to finish.
#15 "Timid" - a talking blues sort of thing, this one came out really well cus I got a friend to play the lead guitar on it.
#17 "I Will Never Meet Her" - an older song that I posted an early version of here a while back so maybe you'll recognise it if you heard my old version. but I had never properly completed until now. It's more or less an ELO-inspired song.
#18 "Weigh You Down" - it's like garage rock or something? it wasn't my original intention but i like how blown out this ended up sounding.
#20 "I Don't Even Know You" - I don't even know how to describe this song. It's got clanging dissonant piano over the whole thing and changes time signatures and keys a bunch but it's still basically a pop song.
In the early 20s I hit on a hot streak of super short 2 minute pop songs, the best of which are maybe #23 "Solo Act" and #24 "Trial Run". Though this part of the month kind of all blurs together for me, so don't hold me to that haha.
#29 "Tremble Like You" - a cheesy as hell ballad I wrote about my dog that died a few months ago. It's kind of an embarrassing song, but I quite like the chorus.
#30 "Asedio Number Four" - an experimental ambient/noise soundscape track. I probably wouldn't recommend this one to most people but I know folks on this board are into the weirder stuff and this is definitely the weirdest thing on this whole project.
