-Yeah, more like "There's A Fire Walk With Me Where You Are Going." The references just keep. piling. UP!!!!
-"Well, this is where we're going, but there's no road." The Lynch aesthetic summarized a little too bluntly?
-Cherry pie comes back. The second biggest meme from the original show after Laura. I'm just now realizing the show was a phenomenon right around the time the godawful Warrant song became a hit. Co-inky-dink?
-Well, I guess it wasn't too hard to figure Matthew Lillard wasn't going to live very long. Isn't it weird that they made him a school principal? I guess that sort of makes sense. The (RIP) Brent Briscoe's reaction to that crunching noise was somewhat funny.
-Part of me wonders idly and stupidly if Ruth Davenport's dead torso isn't some sort of oblique reference to the Black Dahlia murder....but ewwwgh.
-Oh so that's where the "electric" bit with Lynch looking into the camera came from, from that third or fourth trailer. Deuhr. Again, I thought Gordon Cole was going to die on us here...
-Having Madchen Amick jump on that car and look right into the camera was a sure odd way of showing how old she is now.
-I'm with Bobby--that fat woman needs to quit honking her horn. And that was a GIRL in the car puking up crap?
-I was amused by how Shelly suddenly turned into a 15 year old girl running off to go see that guy who wasn't Bobby. Oh wait, that other guy is Red? Wow, she went from Leo to Bobby to Red. That's like going from Green Day to blink-182 to Sum 41.
-Coordinates scrawled on an arm? That's like Donnie Darko--the master borrowing from the apprentice?!? Eghn, probably not. I make all sorts of crappy connections that aren't there don't I?
-In keeping with my stupid inability to recognize all sorts of actors from the original TP, I couldn't tell that was Alicia Witt, who technically has been working with Lynch as long as Kyle Maclachlan has.
-The AV Club also reminded me that the woman Richard failed to kill crawling out of the bushes was meant to remind us of Ronette Pulaski in the pilot.
-TELL ME THE GUY AT THE END PLAYING PIANO WASN'T PLAYING "SPACE-DYE VEST." TELL ME!!!!!!! (Okay, he wasn't, but it sure seemed kinda close!!!) (AV Club says it's a reference to Alicia Witt's only episode of the original show, where she was playing piano over the credits--the immortal season 2 premiere.)
NP: Sung Tongs live!!
