1) Anything played on the show has to be released between 1965 and 1979
2) Nothing can be played by an artist who's ever had an album in the Billboard Top 20
3) No Krautrock, country, or funk; they want stuff that's obscure and under-heard but could essentially pass for the material on a more typical oldies station. I think I can eventually get away with a little prog or something, but I'll probably steer clear of Canterbury Scene-type stuff, etc.
For example, some of the stuff I played this week:
Dennis Wilson's "River Song"
Emitt Rhodes' "Somebody Made for Me"
Ry Cooder's "Tattler"
The Only Ones' "Another Girl, Another Planet"
The Millennium's "It Won't Always Be the Same"
Modern Lovers' "Girlfriend"
I've already got plenty of tracks put into a master playlist for the semester, but I figured this could make for a fun Babble activity. Plus, I could use some more diverse, outside-the-box choices. So rack your brains for obscure 60s/70s tracks (slash artists I should look into)!
