Bernie also had to change lots of details about Bernie's past, I did notice upon doing a bit of further reading. I was slightly unnerved to see Jack Black having a pleasant conversation with the real Bernie in the credits. And you get this impression of how much they love to execute people in Texas, but not if they like the guy. Hah. McConaughey was a funny enough throwaway, too.
The other scene in Bernie of note is the hilarious "five parts of Texas" speech given by the guy in the beginning, whom I realized later was the "mister I'm gonna kick 100 percent of your ass!" rude customer in Fast Times At Ridgemont High.
