Yep, super ####ed up that folks did that to you. I wouldn't have blamed you if you had left the board and/or been out for revenge. And I don't blame you if it made you paranoid about putting your info online. Jeez, Stuart really was Holden from "Catcher In The Rye" wasn't he? Won't be surprised if that dude winds up throwing himself off a bridge before he's 40.
The stuff with Sidebottom wasn't really what I was referring to. Whoever it was that called my parents' house claimed to be him but who knows who it was (doesn't matter, really). It was just the most hilariously failed attempt at a prank call ever. I was obviously supposed to be freaked out that they'd somehow gotten my parents' number but right off the bat it was clear that I was too stoned to care and whoever it was quickly realized that they hadn't really thought of what they'd actually *say* to me. I even tried to make the call interesting by purposely mispronouncing Tucson (where Sidebottom was from) as "Tuskan"and suggesting that, if he was truly in SF, we should meet by walking from opposite directions on Market Street (one of the longest main streets in the city) until we bumped into each other.
All the other stuff, I never cared about. Name calling never bothers me (there's nothing personal about it- I just think it's the most uncreative way to insult someone). I was the office manager of a company that moved and delivered furniture. Not very glamorous but it was fine at the time and I wasn't the least embarrassed about it. My mom's name is Alice Pamela Carr. Why was the fact that they took the time to find this out (and get the phone #) supposed to bother me? Because it made the generic "yo mama" jokes more authentic? Guess they were used to dealing with thin-skinned teenagers like Ricky and didn't really know what to make of me.
The best thing to use FB for is reconnecting with any friends you've grown apart from or keeping in touch with friends and relatives who you barely see (usually because they live far away). If neither interests you then you probably shouldn't be on it but again, different strokes.
