Never been a huge fan of these guys or anything but I'm digging this new album a fair bit. It kind of gives me "Living In The Plastic Age" synthpop vibes a bit which is cool
Franz Ferdinand - Always Ascending
It's alright. The band mostly keeps the vibe they had going on FFS (but obviously minus Sparks) which is a good thing through the songs are hit and miss. I can't imagine I'll come back to it a lot in the future but I'm enjoying it at the moment.
They Might Be Giants - I Like Fun
Typical late-era TMBG. Some great songs, some meh songs, but still it makes for a good fun listen.
Moondog - s/t
Why haven't i head this before? This is great.
England - Box Of Circles
England put out one of my favourite overlooked prog records of all time with 1977's "Garden Shed" and then they broke up with only some outtakes coming out in the intervening years. But for some reason they started playing live shows again in the 00s and now here we are with a new album. It's barely recognisable as the same band, which isn't too surprising (most of the members are different). But it's pretty varied and all over the map stylistically. And some of the songs go in interesting directions. There's also a weird tendency to quote 70s prog songs in a couple places which is bizarre.
So I don't know if I'd recommend this to anybody beyond people who loved this bands other stuff and was curious. But what I WOULD recommend is looking at the album cover which is one of the most insanely hideous covers I have ever seen. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
