But I'll take it over what I hear on the subway every morning. how come these losers can't afford headphones? Makes me feel like an old man... I actually like rap, and yet it's 7:30 in the morning and I'm pissed off at this young guy for playing some obscene crap on his phone... I'm totally out of touch.
is it just me or has modern-day rap become really repetitive and completely lacking in flow? It's all like the same stilted cadence over and over again... repeat the same phrase, then rap a line that ends with nigga, repeat again, another line that ends with nigga (lots of talk about how other niggaz are pussy niggaz and about how he's gonna f!ck a b*tch when he feel like etc etc).
so I actually kinda like Schoolboy Q but here's an example of what I'm talking about (16-year-old kid was blasting this out his little Dre Beats speaker while I'm stuck in a human traffic jam trying to get on the red line some months back):
Quarter million, switchin' lanes, that part
Bet my b###h move the same old thing, that part
405 with the gun off safe, that part
Ayy I'm still tryna make that plate
Rich or poor nigga, pick your fate
Style on top of style, nigga
Five years I've been rich, nigga
Drove Bimmers down Fig, nigga
Pushed Porsche's down Broadway
I've been divin' in different hoes, nigga
Got a chain that's worth the Rolls, nigga
what happened to rhyming? what happened to sampling? what happened to flow?
