I bought my dad the box set version of "Monterey Pop"

with extra performances (most of them are nothing special but still interesting from a historical perspective, like the Buffalo Springfield performance with Crosby filling in for Young). And yeah, I've always preferred the doc to "Woodstock" although I prefer Hendrix's performance in the latter if we're talking about the full set ("Live At Woodstock" is my favorite live Hendrix). But yeah, Janis is at her best in "Monterey Pop".
Couldn't get into "Blowup". Too gimmicky and self conscious for my taste.
I'm actually more interested in the 80's remake of "The Blob" than the original. Anyone seen that one?
Yes, the greatness of "Seven Samurai" is undeniable but I've never been able to decide whether it or "Ran" is Kurosawa's best film. Guess they're just too different to really compare.
