And like many folks, I also consider the band one of the more talented of the era, in terms of technical ability and strength as a live band. So it's kinda lame that there are no recordings of so many early Townsend classics being played live by the killer group who had originally performed them."
Here's your problem: Townshend didn't consider himself to be one o f the greats. He was a huge self-doubter and after "I Can See for Miles" failed to reach as high as he would have liked on the charts, perhaps he felt the average fan didn't deserve to hear it in concert (for he was also a huge asshole).
