"The Blue Lagoon", "Coal Miner's Daughter", and "Smokey and the Bandit II" all made more money than "Blues Brothers". But the latter is the one that had the larger/more sustained influence due to a more dedicated fanbase. Isn't that the idea behind a cult film? And, I guess, what separates BB from some a genuinely widespread cultural phenomenon like "Star Wars".
