When I was in school I was a total night owl -- up till 2 or 3 most nights, waking up with this kind of alarm clock
(well, I actually still have one and use it, just not every day), which *will* get your ass out of bed to turn off the alarm, but when I was around 20 for a few reasons I started waking up at one, two o'clock and excepting a few months here and there when I could sleep until 10am if I wanted to I've been an early riser ever since. Maybe this is an extreme example, I don't know, but I love being able to get up, drink some coffee, put on some music, et cetera while I don't have a rush or a care in the world. Even when you stay up late you have a mental burden of having to get to bed before it was *too* late. Also, I prefer the dark. Not goth, just how I'm wired.
I'm glad it took so long to make the transition, though. High school in particular wouldn't have been the same if I had turned in early rather than hung out with friends.
Answer to the original question: yes, yes, absolutely. That's what I always do for vacation. Can't see how adding stress by going off somewhere (unless it's the beach or something) would remotely help.
I have a glass of chocolate-malt Ovaltine (with whole milk) and a cup of Oikos strawberry yogurt every morning, and that's been my breakfast for years.
