I think it's less her music

and more that her music is paired with John Lennon's. Putting an avant-garde artist next to one of the most famous pop stars of all time is going to result in a lot of people who would never in their lives want to experience avant-garde music (or art in general) being exposed to it tangentially. There are loads of musicians and artists who are way more out there than she is but since they aren't associated with one of the most recognisable musicians of all time they don't get scorn cus their art is only able to reach the far more limited audience that is actually interested in experiencing it.
